Who We Are
Welcome to The Booker School, an independent, non-profit, non-denominational, Pre-K to Grade 8 school in Port Williams, Nova Scotia.
Founded in 2012 by parents, we embrace the values of the International Baccalaureate, with a mission to gain full accreditation from the IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) for students aged 3-14.
Our Vision
The Booker School is a learning community connected to its natural environment, where children’s diverse and individual abilities are nurtured, empowered and challenged. Our students experience joyful learning, engage as global citizens and take action in their local communities.

A Community
Here at The Booker School, we value our community as a key part of the experience. We want families to be an active part of their child's education. We also promote multi-age opportunities through our weekly schedule. Our older students are expected to be role models and leaders in the school for our young students to look up to.
Child Centred
We see each student at the school as an individual. We want every child to be supported, challenged, and inspired. We have great standards that we expect at each Grade Level, but also understand that students may come to us working towards or beyond those standards. Our aim is to help each child grow, no matter what level they come to us at. Students may be challenged with higher level curriculum in some areas, but supported to achieve grade level expectations in others.

Our Community
We believe that education is a three-way partnership between the school, the parent, and most importantly, the child.
For day-to-day communication, we use the platform Toddle so that parents can engage with their child's learning.

Head of School
Mr James is our teaching Head of School. With a background of teaching in International Schools with the Primary Years Program, Mr James is passionate on inspiring student questions and agency!
