Our Educational Program

TBS Program Of Inquiry
Our curriculum is designed around a transdisciplinary program of inquiry. Our different subjects are mostly taught through this program that is designed to be challenging, relevant, and engaging for the students.

Outdoor Education
At The Booker School, we take our learning outdoors onto our campus throughout the year. In addition to this, we have a great Outdoor Education program built to develop resilience, independence, and life-skills.

The Arts
At The Booker School we aim to provide opportunities for students to try different disciplines. Our Arts program is vast and includes opportunities for both the Performing and Visual Arts. One exciting feature is the annual Musical Theatre performance for students in Grade 4 to Grade 8.

Athletics
As a small school, we do not have competitive team sports, but we have plenty of athletes and athletic opportunities! We participate in the local Cross Country races and have many students participating in external teams for hockey, basketball, swimming and more. We are active cyclists and can often be seen in the community.

Balancing the schedule
We believe that learning can and should be fun, engaging and inspiring. We also value the physical and mental well-being of our students and ensure there is time to play and be social throughout the school day. We have a 30 minute morning recess and a 60 minute lunch recess. Our EY-Grade 3 classes finish at 3.00pm and our Grade 4-8 classes finish at 3.30pm.

Transdisciplinary Skills
From Pre-Primary to Grade 8, TBS students are explicitly taught skills and strategies to develop as learners. We strive to develop independence, organisation and determination in our learners. Every child sets goals with their teachers and their families to challenge themselves as they develop and mature.
Our Structure
The Early Years - Pre-Primary to Primary
In the Early Years we have a play- and inquiry- based program offering a gentle and nurturing introduction to school structures. This program includes specialist teachers such as French & Music.

The Middle School - Grade 6 to Grade 8
Our Middle School is designed to challenge and support our students as they develop study habits and self-management skills to take into higher education.
