The Booker will host two exciting one-week inquiry camps this summer for children ages 5-12. Dates are August 2-5 and August 8-12.

Wild Critters at Risk (2-5 August; Junior ages 5-8, Senior 9-12; Cost $160)

In this critter-crazy camp, inquiring campers will explore the myriad ways that wild animals and humans are interconnected. We’ll hike into nature to visit them at home. We’ll take a field trip to a wildlife sanctuary where campers can inquire about injured, endangered and extinct animals. Through hands-on activities, campers will explore how we can care for the natural world and understand what happens if we don’t. Campers will also create a major artwork inspired by their explorations. For a bit of fun, we’ll sneak in some tennis and wanna-be-an-otter water sliding. The week will end with a splashy presentation of campers’ findings.

Super Duper Junior Master Chefs (8-12 August; Junior ages 5-8, Senior 9-12; cost: $200)

Future chefs please join us for our weeklong farm to fork camp to discover everything a chef needs to know about food. Start by sourcing products by visiting and helping at a local farm. Learn how ingredients are preserved and processed. Taste things. Make ice cream. Interview a local chef. Connect your (bilingual) menu to your environment so that it reflects who you are. Ultimately, get into the kitchen to hone your cooking skills and prepare a gourmet meal for your parents. If things get hot, we’ll enjoy some water sliding and summer treats. Bon appétit!
