Booker Battery Drive

Our students have spent the past month collecting batteries from around the community. The results exceeded everyones expectations.

Our students have spent the past month collecting batteries from around the community. In addition to looking through our own garages, basements and knickknack drawers, we also put Call2Recycle collection boxes in strategic locations, such as the local library and community centre. Some entire families got involved as they went door to door in their neighbourhoods to collect batteries and educate their fellow citizens about the importance of keeping batteries out of the landfill and recycling them properly. Within the first week we had filled 2 boxes! We ordered more, and set up a goal of filling 8 boxes before the end of the month. Amazingly our small student population of only 45 managed to fill all 8 of those boxes! We are so happy to have taken action on a very important environmental issue and hope that our campaign has given people something to think about.
