Peskewiku or Birds Shed Feathers Moon Camp

With Wild Spirits leader Ashlea Coleman, Wendy Bustin and Booker’s Gabriella Lencina

Monday, June 26 th - Friday, June 30

9am – 5pm at the Booker School, 1341 Belcher Street, Port Williams

Cost: $300 for the week. (Tax receipts available.)

Ages: 4 -12

The theme of this camp will have a naturalist/bird and wilderness leadership theme. The campers will be involved with:

(A) naturalist skills – including bird and tree identification, bird calls, wildlife tracking, the use of field guides, mapping, sit-spots and nature journaling

(B) wilderness and survival skills – making fire and shelters, fishing, trapping and bushcraft, identifying wild edibles, camp safety

(C) leadership skills- teamwork and communication through cooperative games

While some snacks will be included, campers are asked to bring a nut-free snack and lunch, water bottle, hat and sunscreen.

Moose Calling Moon

Monday, August 21 – Friday, August 25

9am – 5pm. Cost: $300 for the week. (Tax receipts available.)

The theme of the Moose Calling Moon camp will be on outdoor art-making adventures.

We’ll use the natural sounds, colours, patterns, and rhythms of the beautiful Booker school campus as inspiration for dance, theatre, and visual art.

Campers will develop an appreciation of the natural world through many varied hands-on activities and exploration.  The week will end with a performance and art exhibit demonstrating what campers have created.

Note: registration is limited to 15 campers for each session.

As part of Port Williams Days Celebrations, the Booker School will offer a free will offering Family Art Day between 10-1 led by art specialist, Rachel Reeve. We'll Open the House to visitor and interested parents. Also registrations for our Summer Camps offered in tandem with Wild Spirits Forest School will be taken.

REGISTRATIONS are now being accepted for the 2017-18 Academic Year at the Booker School for students in Pre K through Grade 8. Our framework is interdisciplinary, theme-based inquiry with an inclusive and global perspective. There’s emphasis on developing personal attributes and taking action. As we’re a non-profit, independent school with charitable status, we’re able to offer tax rebates for Pre K and K, and a portion of our After School Program costs for students in grade 1 and above. Forest School

The Booker and Wild Spirits Forest Schools are collaborating to offer a public 7-week outdoor learning program for children ages 3-12 on the Booker School campus. The program will be on Tuesdays, commencing May 9 and will run through until Tuesday, June 27. Hours are 9:30-2:30. The cost is $325.00. Tax receipts are available. Early Registration is Sunday, April 30 between 12:00-2:00 pm at the Booker School, 1341 Belcher Street, Port Williams. Space is limited.
